In a bid to evoke a sense of hope and engage new audiences, Greenpeace France has enlisted the expertise of the la chose agency for its latest awareness-raising campaign titled ‘Changing the Scenario.’ The campaign endeavors to foster a radical shift in responses to climate and environmental challenges through three genre-inspired videos.
The campaign’s unconventional approach utilizes parody-like films to shed light on critical issues such as plastic pollution, oil production, and deforestation. These videos present absurd yet real-life scenarios, aiming to urge viewers to recognize the urgency of “changing the scenario” in the face of the ongoing environmental crisis.
La chose agency, renowned for its innovative campaigns, has created three genre films that delve into major environmental and climate issues: deforestation, plastic overconsumption, and the dependence on fossil fuels. These films, available in 20 and 30 seconds formats, were directed by Alexandre Courtès, recognized for his work with artists like Justice and Kavinsky, along with the parody series Au service de la France.
The trilogy employs humor as a powerful tool to bring attention to alarming yet factual situations, encouraging people to unite in the collective effort to alter the current environmental narrative and safeguard the future.
1. Death Forestation: Deforestation in Pursuit of Soy Production
Every two seconds, an area equivalent to a soccer field disappears from the Earth’s surface due to deforestation. This catastrophic phenomenon is primarily fueled by the increasing demand for soy to feed livestock, leading to the destruction of vital ecosystems, especially in regions like Brazil.
Greenpeace is committed to combating deforestation threats and advocating for ecological agriculture practices that respect all living beings.
2. Plastic Attack: The Global Scourge of Plastic Overproduction
The planet grapples with the consequences of excessive plastic consumption and waste, visible in pollution on beaches and streets. Beyond what meets the eye, plastic pollution adversely affects health, exacerbates global inequalities, destroys biodiversity, and contributes to the climate crisis.
Greenpeace mobilizes for the adoption of an international treaty against plastic pollution, aiming to halt plastic’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle and progressively reduce global plastic production.
3. Total Love: Eliminating Fossil Fuels ASAP
The fossil fuel industry is responsible for a staggering 86% of worldwide CO₂ emissions. Oil, gas, and coal contribute to pollution at every stage of their lifecycle, from extraction to transport and use.
Despite warnings, new fossil projects continue to emerge globally, potentially becoming environmental threats emitting over a billion tons of CO₂. Urgent action is imperative.
These three films will be exclusively broadcast through digital platforms, including social networks, visual display campaigns, and TV replay. The campaign, ‘Changing the Scenario,’ marks Greenpeace France’s concerted effort to leverage creativity, humor, and urgency to ignite a collective commitment to environmental sustainability.
