Renault’s transformative journey, Renaulution, initiated three years ago, reaches a milestone with the Renault Megane—the first vehicle in this visionary venture. Positioned at the heart of the C-segment, the Megane emerges as a 100% electric hatch, seamlessly catering to the diverse needs of both private and professional drivers.
At the core of this evolution is the Megane E-Tech’s powerful 220 hp (160 kW) electric engine, ensuring dynamic acceleration. Complemented by an agile chassis and a low center of gravity, the vehicle delivers impeccable road grip. Boasting a remarkable range of up to 470km per the wltp standard, regenerative braking via steering wheel-mounted paddles, and intuitive electric route planning through Google Maps[1], the Megane E-Tech promises a driving experience defined by both efficiency and comfort. With over 30 safety features, the vehicle guarantees a worry-free journey, while the openR link, featuring 774 cm² of interactive screens and over 50 applications, supports both the driver and passengers.
Renault, in collaboration with its agency Publicis Conseil, takes a unique approach by revisiting the classics of the road, but this time, in electric form.
In the latest film, the Renault Megane becomes a protagonist in memorable road movie scenes inspired by two major films: Easy Rider and Thelma & Louise. Through a subtle play of shot and reverse shot, the driver engages with these cult characters, passing, overtaking, and sharing the road along the desert landscapes reminiscent of American road movies. Their paths diverge at the service station, where the characters from the classics pause to witness the 100% electric Renault Megane E-Tech continuing its journey. Following in the footsteps of these cinematic icons, the Megane establishes itself as the new benchmark for the road, proudly declaring to be “on the road, with new energy.”
This cinematic homage to the road and its legends is orchestrated by Frédéric Planchon at Iconoclast, who brings together Thelma, Louise, the Easy Rider bikers, and the Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric in a timeless encounter.
The rhythmic backdrop is a remixed version of Pierre Henry and Michel Colombier’s “Psyché Rock,” a classic piece of concrete music from 1967. The soundtrack serves as a vibrant illustration of the campaign, seamlessly bridging the gap between the imagery of the iconic films and the electric road trip of our hero in the Renault Megane E-Tech 100%.
This professional campaign, titled ‘On the road, with new energy,’ was unveiled in France in January 2024. It stands as a bold declaration, linking the illustrious past with the promising electric future of Renault, marking a significant chapter in the automotive industry.
